Insurance & Billing
IMC participates in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. We also accept a number of commercial plans, HMO's, PPO's and managed care plans. Present your insurance identification cards upon admission along with information on any hospitalization insurance you may have. Many insurance companies now require that the patient call for pre-certification prior to hospital admission. Please do so, if necessary. The hospital may request a deposit to cover the deductible, co-payment or fees for non-insured services.
If you have any questions regarding your coverage, please call:
Many diagnostic procedures performed at the hospital consist of two distinct parts - technical (use of hospital facilities and personnel) and professional (fees for physician services). There will be a separate bill for each of these portions. For the professional portion of a procedure, your physician, anesthesiologist, and radiologist will bill you directly. The hospital is not involved in their billing process.
For questions regarding the hospital portion of your billing, please call our Patient Accounts office at :
Financial Assistance Program Summary
It is the policy of IMC to provide comprehensive quality health care and medically essential services without regard to a patient's ability to pay or their immigration status. IMC recognizes that there are times when patients in need of medical care may have difficulty paying for the services provided. IMC has a Financial Assistance Program that provides discounts to qualifying individuals based on income. In addition, we can help you apply for free or low-cost insurance if you qualify.

Who qualifies for a discount?
IMC has implemented a Financial Assistance Program which evaluates those who are underinsured, have exhausted their insurance benefits or are fully uninsured. Current clinic patients without adequate financial resources can receive care in our primary / specialty clinics at discounted fee schedules based on their income and family size. A determination will be made if a patient is eligible for the reduced fees. Non-Clinic patients seen in the Emergency Department or in the Hospital for Inpatient or Outpatient Services can apply for assistance, based on financial need, through the Financial Assistance Program in the Patient Accounts Department, Patient Access Services, Financial Counseling or Ambulatory Care Department.
Everyone in New York State who needs emergency services can receive care and get a discount if they meet the income limits. Any individuals residing in the IMC service area, NYC (including all five boroughs), is eligible for a discount on non-emergency, medically necessary services at IMC if they meet the income limits. IMC will never deny medically necessary care because you may need financial assistance. You may apply for a discount regardless of your immigration status.
